Imaging Arts and Sciences
We hope to devote ourselves to the culture of images. In other words, our idea of devotion is to adapt the images to society. We are exploring the field of imaging not just for conveying certain types of information, such as advertisements and films. It might be images that replace walls, windows, lighting, and so on. For this ambition, we believe that this requires constant practice and exploration in society.
I wanted to make a work like a “bonfire”. I am interested in a quiet place that is made around a bonfire without exchanging words or glances with other people. There is neither a subject to be emotionally involved in a bonfire nor information to receive or catch. I hypothesized that “continuity" is the reason why we can keep looking at a bonfire. Several asynchronous images are presented to make a single space in this work. All the images are made to look seamless. Even so, each of the images may simply be a loop. However, I thought that a “continuity” like that of a bonfire could be made by juxtaposing multiple images in a single space.
