研究テーマ：

建築と美術の領域から生まれる総合的表現を探究する。

'04年武蔵野美術大学造形学部建築学科卒業、'06年東京藝術大学大学院修了後、アーティストグループ「アトリエオモヤ」のメンバーとして、自然の物理現象に着目した作品制作を開始。
'14年に独立。「浮遊」や「鳥」への興味からはじまり、現在では「軽さ」「動き」「光」に着目した作品を展開中。美術館での作品展示をはじめ、商業施設など大空間での空間演出も行う。

「第10回文化庁メディア芸術祭」アート部門審査委員会推薦作品 '07年。「釜山ビエンナーレ Living in Evolution」'10年、「Wearing Light」ISSEY MIYAKEとのコラボレーション '14年。「LEXUS Inspired By Design」のCMに作品が起用 '14年。「六本木ヒルズ ウエストウォーク クリスマスデコレーション Snowy Air Chandelier」'14年、この作品がDSA日本空間デザイン賞 2015　優秀賞を受賞。「大地の芸術祭 越後妻有アートトリエンナーレ」'15年・'22年、「MIDLAND CHRISTMAS」クリスマス装飾をデザイン・制作し、Red Dot Award 2016 Communication部門で受賞。「日本博」オープニング・セレモニーにてインスタレーションを担当 '20年。「Kosei Komatsu Exhibition 光と影のモビール 森の夢」金津創作の森美術館 '22年など。

Kosei Komatsu was born in 1981. After completing graduate school at the Tokyo University of Arts in 2006, he became a member of Atelier OMOYA, an artists’ group. His current work encompasses a broad range of artistic endeavors in Japan and abroad in various genres. In his group works, Komatsu pursues the sense of surprise and discoveries originating from phenomena caused by materials that exist anywhere, such as light, wind, water and movement. In his private works, he creates numerous pieces under the theme of the evolution of birds and their beauty.
